Mangaluru: National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, Registrar Ravindranath K was placed under suspension pending departmental inquiry for violating Central Civil Service (Conduct) Rules, 1964.
The Board of Governors, NITK, also set up a high-power committee comprising of IIT/NIT Directors, to investigate the legality and propriety of the appointment of Ravindranath K as the Registrar in 2015.
Ravindranath also had served in the post beyond five years, which is against NIT Act and statutes, added sources in NITK.
Board of Governors, NITK entrusted the duties and responsibilities of Registrar’s office to Dr Kumar G N, Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, who will be the Registrar in-charge untill further orders.
