It is said that a group of 12 naxals visited the village and summoned the villagers to the Government School premises where a meeting was held. The socio-economic policies of the State as well as the Central Government were severely criticised by the naxals.

They also alleged in the meeting that liquor was sold at a grocery shop at Kumbribailu with police co-operation. They have threatened the shopkeeper against selling liquor. They expressed ire over police harassing the tribal youths by branding them as naxal-sympathisers.

The school premises is reported to be decorated with red banners and pamphlets were pasted on the school walls and the bus stand.

Superintendent of Police Murugan had announced high alert in naxal-infested regions on Wednesday, in the wake of Maoists declaring to observe martyrs’ day nation-wide. Villagers have alleged that combing operations are undertaken by the Anti-Naxal Squad and Force personnel only during day time and the region was not guarded during the night.
