Mangaluru: District in-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao on Sunday said that the new DC office complex at Padil will be inaugurated in March by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking after inspecting the ongoing work on the complex along with Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, he said that concerned authorities have been directed to complete the work on the DC office complex within next one month.
There is no shortage of funds. The foundation for the Complex was laid when the Congress government was in power in its previous term. The work on the auditorium is pending. The Revenue Minister has asked to take up the work on the auditorium.
“There is enough space for government departments, MP office, District in-Charge Minister office with separate board room facility. I have asked the authorities to make it a common boardroom and meeting chamber so that even others can utilise it to hold small meetings. All the departments have been asked to take up interior work on the space allotted to them,” said the Minister.
The remaining space will be given to the central government offices.
Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has asked DC to make a list of all the departments that will be shifted to the new DC office complex. The inauguration will be taken up only after the completion of the work.
Heritage building
Meanwhile, Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the old DC office building will be retained as a heritage structure. A master plan has been prepared for its rejuvenation , to be used as a cultural centre. A museum will also be developed at the Old DC office building. It will be developed as a public property.
