Margaret D’Obrio, founder of popular NGOs Deeds (Development Education Service) and Valored (Value Oriented Education) passed away in a private hospital in Bangalore after a brief illness. She was 75.
A social worker par excellence, she was active in many social developmental works in the region.
While Deeds imparts training and legal advice for women to strengthen the women force, Valored has been working in the field of primary education in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
It is working towards making education more effective, value based and having social development tools apart from helping students to become self-reliant. Wife of scholar Desmond D’Obrio, she leaves behind her two sons.
