Thirty-one people had lost their lives after a tempo plunged into a lake on Mysore-Nanjangud road yesterday.
Udasi told reporters here that the NHAI has already invited tenders for execution of roads works between Mysore and Nanjangud. The estimated cost of road work is Rs 9 crore.
The NHAI would also widen 150 km road between Nanjangud and Ooty, he said.
Bad roads, negligent driving and poor maintenance of vehicles cause road accidents and the department would erect barricades near tanks and sharp curves to avoid major accidents, the Minister added.
