Attacking the Congress government following reports of money not being credited to beneficiaries of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, Nikhil said, “Congress rode to power in Karnataka with the promise of guarantee schemes. But in the past few months, money is not being transferred to beneficiaries of Gruha Lakshmi scheme. The government must admit if it has no money.”

The JD(S) Youth Wing chief also demanded that the state government publish a calendar containing entries of all dates on which the amount was transferred to the Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries. “If they cannot do this, we will bring a calendar, and the government can mark the dates. If money is not credited to the beneficiaries’ accounts, we will launch a protest,” Nikhil added.

Meanwhile, Nikhil dubbed the state government’s order for a land survey in connection with the Kethaganahalli denotification case an instance of ‘hate politics’. “This is nothing new. These are efforts to trap Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy. The landowners have themselves not raised any complaint. The land was purchased in 1985. These false claims are being pushed by people appointed by the government for this purpose. Why is the government raising a 40-year-old issue,” Nikhil added.

He also expressed dismay over the government dragging the Governor into the controversy. “Attacking the Governor politically is disgraceful. If we had done anything wrong, we’d be worried. Kumaraswamy has not taken a single rupee from anybody. He has no reason to fear,” said Nikhil.

He said that the Congress was reaping the dividends of the politics of hate it had practiced. “Whenever Kumaraswamy tries to expose scams of the Congress, it tries to bring him down. But we’ll fight this out legally,” said the JD(S) Youth Wing chief.
