A statement issued by the registrar in-charge of the university said that only six students have made verbal queries on the matter. Media reports had suggested that students who had secured higher ranks were upset after candidates with lower ranks had benefited from the decision to increase intake in science courses.

The release also stated that the decision to enhance intake was taken after a 200 per cent increase in demand for subjects such as nutrition, electronics, mathematics, statistics and physics. Further, the release stated that the decision was taken “in the interest of the larger section of the student community.”  The release also said that the university will issue show cause notices to four private colleges for demanding excess fees from students.
