Senior advocate Sandesh Chouta, who appeared for accused number 11 Nagaraju, concluded his arguments on Friday. Chouta claimed that not a single piece of evidence disclosed that Renukaswamy had died at a shed in Pattanagere, West Bengaluru. He also argued that the intention and knowledge to cause murder were not forthcoming in the statements recorded by the police.

According to him, no bloodstains were recorded in the mahazar proceedings of Nagaraju’s footwear and clothes during the recovery. However, the forensic analysis report states that there were bloodstains on his shoes and clothes.

Chouta further said that the prosecution case was that there were 12 assailants in the case. Referring to the assault on Renukaswamy, Chouta said that at best, it could be grievous injury or culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

After the arguments concluded, Justice Shetty adjourned the hearing until December 3.
