New Delhi: The Centre on Tuesday said that there is a proposal before the government to merge the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company (KIOCL) with National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).

Responding to a Question by Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha member Brijesh Chowta during the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Steel Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma said that the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management under the Finance Ministry will take a decision on privatization or merger of any public sector undertaking.

However no decision has been taken on the merger of these two institutions at present., he said.
