Bengaluru: Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar informed the Legislative Assembly on Thursday that 412 among 440 government degree colleges do not have principals. He was responding to a question by Bijapur City MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal.

Yatnal also sought to know why there had been a delay in appointing principals when applications were invited in 2022, an exam was conducted in 2023 and a merit list was also declared subsequently.

Sudhakar said that the KEA had already conducted the exam, and the KEA commissioner had been directed to submit the final merit list.
