Bengaluru: The Department of School Education and Literacy has decided not to print the third language Kannada textbooks for class 8 from the 2024-25 academic year.

The Karnataka Textbook Society has been doing this since the implementation of the Kannada Language Act, 2015 by removing the third language Kannada from class 1. "In the last six years, we have removed Kannada as the third language stage by stage, this year for class 8," said an official from the Society.
