Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Wednesday that his government’s Gruha Lakshmi scheme has empowered women economically and socially and the question of stopping the scheme does not arise.
He was speaking to reporters after meeting the beneficiaries of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha here on Wednesday.
He said, “The beneficiaries are using the Gruha Lakshmi funds to improve their standard of life. We have discussed with more than 25 beneficiaries and they explained the benefits they obtained from the scheme.”
“Gruha Lakshmi scheme has given a new enthusiasm in their lives and the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the minister concerned and the government,” he said.
He said the BJP leaders were criticising that the scheme has created a tussle between mother-in-laws and daughter-in-laws. But all the beneficiaries came together and explained about the benefits of the scheme, he added.
Siddaramaiah said it is a happy development that the scheme has empowered women economically and socially and the government would continue it.
About the BJP MLAs meeting him, the chief minister said they requested for the repair of roads in Bengaluru.
To a question on the BJP planning to stage a protest against Waqf land row on the day of the AICC session in Belagavi, the chief minister said that action would be taken as per the law if problems are created.
