This time, however, the cost of seeds along with few fertilisers have turned away the fake farmers. The cost of 30 kg seeds along with gypsum fertiliser, 5 kg of chickpea seeds and other fertilisers amounts to Rs 2,130 per farmer.  Though farmers had protested the supplying of sowing seed along with the fertilisers, agricultural department had won over them by convincing of higher yields. As a result only interested farmers came forward to buy seeds.

However, last year, in the absence of present system, farmers irrespective of cultivating the crop thronged the TAPCMS to buy seeds. Some even sold the seeds in black market.
The situation had worsened as huge quantities of seeds where sold in a matter of days and taluk administration found it difficult to cater to huge demand from farmers.

The agriculture department in order to control misuse of the seeds, directed taluk administration to make a list of eligible marginal farmers and to wipe out fake farmers.
Even police protection was sought to control the huge crowd of farmers.
However, in the new system only interested farmers are buying the seeds, said farmer B V Ramachandra.
