Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has insisted that students claiming professional courses seats through NRI ward/sponsor should submit the family tree attested by the respective tahsildar.
This is to avoid misuse of NRI sponsorship for professional courses seats. The KEA has released a list of documents mandatory for claiming the quota, following fake sponsorship cases reported during last year in neighboring states.
The document verification for the candidates seeking admissions under NRI quota for medical, dental and AYUSH courses through NRI Ward claim will be held till July 10 at the KEA office in Bengaluru.
“Last year, following the suspicion over the authenticity of the NRI sponsor, we had to send the documents to the respective consulate generals. This year to avoid such exercises we have asked the candidates to submit the required documents and this was informed to students during the registration for KCET itself,” said H Prasanna Executive Director of KEA.
According to KEA, the following documents are required for NRI ward claim : ward certificate as per annexure-6 of the E-Information Bulletin 2025; family tree duly signed by the tahsildar; embassy certificate of the sponsor issued by the Indian Consulate General with official seal-issued within the last six months and sponsor’s NRI/OCI status document including bank passbook, passport, and visa/resident visa.
The notarised family tree or affidavit of relationship will not be accepted, according to the KEA.
