Hubballi, dhns: The website of the North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) was found hacked on Monday.

The protal - www.nwkrtc.in - had information about the services being offered by the corporation, time-table of buses, contact details of its officials and other information for the public. Immediately after hacking come to notice, the portal was blocked and a link was given to www.ksrtc.in, for booking of tickets.

NWKRTC Chairman Sadanand Danganavar stated that the website was hacked, but there is no possibility of stealing any strategic or internal information, as this website was meant only for giving information to public.

NWKRTC chief mechanical engineer P R Mahajan, who is in charge of systems operations, said that the website developed by a private firm several years ago, probably lacked modern security settings.

"The firm, which developed the website checked it and informed that it was a malware attack. It has been been asked to check thoroughly to see whether the website was really hacked or not, to upgrade it with better security settings, and to relaunch it by Tuesday evening," he said.
