The state government should observe Santa Shishunala Shareefa Jayanti instead of observing Tipu Jayanti in Karnataka, said BJP State General Secretary and MLA C T Ravi.
Speaking to reporters here, on Sunday, he said, "If the government wants communal harmony, then let them observe Shishunala Shareefa Jayanti."
"Tipu had introduced Persian language as administrative language. It is not right to glorify Tipu," said Ravi.
"If Tipu had successors, then Mysuru Dasara would not have continued. The names of places would have changed. Tipu had not contributed 1% of what Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar had contributed to the growth of the region. Observing Tipu Jayanti is an insult to the land," he said.
