Online ticket sales for plays at the ongoing ‘Bahuroopi 2014’ national theatre festival at Rangayana here has evoked an overwhelming response with tech savvy theatre buffs opting to book tickets online.
On Friday, the fourth day of the festival, tickets were sold out, both online and offline, for ‘Jai Pathala Bhairavi’, a play staged at Vanaranga, while tickets for ‘Nammalogabba Najookaiah’ at Bhoomigeetha, was sold out only at the counter, with the dedicated counter near the parking lot putting up a houseful board. Last minute theatre goers were however thrilled to find a few more tickets available online for ‘Nammolagobba...’.
Sanjay Ahuja of a private firm, entrusted with the task of online ticket sales told Deccan Herald that out of the total tickets, about 20 per cent were made available online through the dedicated website - www.rangayana.in. The seating capacity at both the venues are over 200.He said that the rush hour for ticket sales is usually is between 7 am and 3 pm, with netizens buying tickets online, from the crack of the dawn. On an average 50 pc to 60 pc tickets are sold online. No sooner online sales are closed for the day (before 3 pm), the counter at the repertory will be informed about the tickets available, to facilitate the sales further.
Though a majority of cognoscenti availing online services are from the city itself, there are buyers from Bangalore too, Ahuja added.
