Mysuru: Cutting across the age group, over 9000 participants, including police and the general public, participated in 'Karnataka Police run-2025' marathon with all enthusiasm and vigor on Sunday morning.

Mysuru DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy, Southern Range DIG Borelingaiah, Mysore City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, SP Vishnuvardana, DCPs S Jahnavi, M Muthturaj flagged off the marathon in front of Mysuru Palace by around 6 am.

Mysore city police organised a 5 km and 10 km marathon with the slogans, 'Namma Police Namma Hemme (Our Police Our pride)', to create awareness on health, fitness, public safety, including cyber safety, among the general public and also to make Karnataka a drug-free state.

Medals were distributed to 17 members of the general public who won in the 10km Marathon, including Sumeeth Paul, Y S Dixith and K Tanuj Kumar, who bagged first, second and third prizes respectively.

Medals were distributed to nine people who won in the 5km Marathon, including Sumanth, N Doreswamy and B Mahadevswamy, who bagged first, second and third prizes.

Medals were also distributed to 16 cops who won in the 10km Marathon, including Amarmulla, Prabhu Jamkandi and N Gopal. Medals were distributed to 8 cops who won in the 5km Marathon, including M S Raveesh, Mallappa, and Nagedra who bagged first, second, and third prizes.

Besides general public, city police, CAR, KSRP, mounted cops, officers and trainees of Karnataka Police Academy, Police Training School, personnel of KSISF, CISF, Railway Police Force, Police band, Home Guards, NCC cadets, members of Pathanjali Yoga Shikshana trust, BPed students of University of Mysore, personnel of youth services and sports and others participated.

Similar marathons were also organised in Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts.
