Addressing mediapersons here, he said that the prestigious award will be given to the ‘Payyoli Express’, as P T Usha is famously called, at a function at the old Middle school grounds on September 27 at 6.30 pm during the Sharana Samskruthi Utsava.
The award includes a cash of Rs one lakh and a plaque. The award was instituted in 1997.
P T Usha who was born in Payyoli village in Kerala on June 27, 1964 had set a record by completing 400 mtrs hurdles in 55.42 seconds at the Olympics held in Los Angeles in 1984.
She has received many awards for her contribution to sports.
