While the rate of paddy transplanter machine is Rs 2.35 lakh, the government provides financial aid to the tune of Rs 60,000 through Athma Scheme. The Agriculture Department has organised demonstrations to create awareness on transplanter at Southikere, Balehonnur and Kuduregundi villages in the taluk. The Samridhi Krishi Self-Help Group has already purchased a transplanter and preparing to cultivate paddy.
The method requires only 8 to 10 kgs of seeds for one acre land. Meanwhile, it requires about 25 to 30 kgs of seeds in manual method. The new method requires minimum space for the preparation of saplings. While 3 gunte land is required for manual method, in mechanised process, it requires only a 15x3 meter plastic sheet for sapling preparation. An expert driver and helper can complete 12 human days work within three hours using only 2.5 litres of petrol. The machine also maintains distance between saplings in a scientific manner. Through this, the yield will be 15 to 20 per cent more than the manual method, explains officials in the Agriculture Department.
