Mysuru: The annual Pancha Rathothsava and Theppothsava of Sri Srikanteshwara Temple, in Nanjangud, will be held next month and preparations are on a full swing.
While the festivities will begin on April 9, with Pancha Rathothsava, it will conclude on April 11, with Theppothsava.
Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan chaired a meeting of taluk-level officials and executive officer of the temple, recently, and issued a few directions for the smooth conduct of the festival, as thousands of devotees participate.
Besides asking the Police department officials to beef up security measures and to streamline vehicular traffic flow and parking, the MLA asked the officials, to inspect the five chariots (ratha) of the temple and report, if any maintenance or repair works are needed. “The path of the chariots should be inspected and the roads should be levelled, for a smooth pradakshine,” he said.
Instructing the officials to deploy expert divers on the banks of the Kapila River, during the festival, especially during Teppothsava, Darshan asked the officials of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) to remove power lines across roads, to facilitate the movement of the tall chariots and resume power supply, once the pradakshine is over.
