“A Board will be created which will ensure the implementation of various schemes and measures for the benefit of the unorganised workers. The Board is already being constituted; we are just waiting for the sub-committee's approval to announce its formal formation ,” said Labour Secretary Ramesh B Zalki.

"People especially labourers once diagnosed with HIV normally loose their job. We want to ensure that they continue their work irrespective of their disease,” he said. Ramesh Zalki along with the Labour Commissioner Ravishankar and other officials attended a sensitisation programme ‘State-level Dissemination of National Policy on HIV/AIDS and the World of Work,’ on Thursday.

Project Connect, a five year programme funded by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) along with Population Services International (PSI) had organised the workshop for Ministry of Labour and Employment and State Labour department. Lack of information about the unorganised workers is a hurdle to create awareness about the disease among them, said Ravishankar.
