In a counter to former chief minister Siddaramaiah over his remarks on the Congress-JD(S) coalition, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Wednesday said the coalition government would complete its full five-year term and that the comments made by others were irrelevant.

Speaking to reporters in Koppal after taking part in the passing out parade of the trainees at Munirabad Police Training Centre, Parameshwara said, “As president of KPCC, I am issuing this clarification that we have agreed to run this government for five years. What others are talking outside is irrelevant.”

To a query on Siddaramaiah expressing his doubts about the longevity of the government in the leaked video, Parameshwara said, “Outsiders talk in different way. For political
reasons, they say that this government will run for only one year. Some say two years. There is no need to give importance to the statements made in private.”

He reiterated that there was no confusion about the longevity of the government and that Kumaraswamy would present the budget.
