Gadag: Weighing in on the controversy that has engulfed Karnataka BJP, with prominent members airing their differences in the open, former minister and senior party leader B Sriramulu on Monday pointed to the need for rewarding functionaries in a manner that was commensurate with their contributions to the party organisation.
Underscoring the decisive role of the BJP central leadership in resolving all crises in the party, Sriramulu added, “Regardless of who is at fault, and the leader’s stature, the party top brass must identify those members, and speak to them. Central leaders in the party must take some hard decisions that will ensure that the BJP returns to power in Karnataka. Today, people who are working tirelessly for the party are on the same footing as those not contributing much, which is wrong.”
He stressed the need for efforts of workers striving to strengthen the party organisation, and leaders who can swing the vote share by around 7 to 8% to be acknowledged, and accordingly rewarded. Against the backdrop of several Karnataka BJP leaders having gone to New Delhi to press for a change of guard in the state, Sriramulu said, “Instead of issuing statements to the media, the leaders should air their concerns to the top brass, and deliberate on ways in which the BJP can be revived.”
He said, “If I want to leave the BJP, I will do without hesitation. I am committed to strengthening the BJP. If the day should come when I want to leave it and join another, I will do so openly. I will leave no room for speculation.”
