Speaking at a review meeting with District Urban Development Cell Planning Directors, Kumar said several programmes of the government had not yielded the desired results due to lack of efforts on the part of officials in implementing them.
The government will not tolerate any dereliction of duty by officials, the minister said and directed them to submit progress reports every two months on the projects and programmes taken up by the departments. He directed the commissioner of municipal administration to hold a review meeting every four months.
He said the Government had released Rs 123.14 crore for urban local bodies during the financial year 2011-12 and the local bodies should prepare an action plan to ensure optimal utilisation of funds.
