Addressing the reporters on the occasion of inauguration of the annual day function ‘Vasant 2010’ at the PG centre, preparations are on to shift the teaching staff, excluding the administration section, to the new building, he said.

In a meeting with the lecturers conducted recently in accordance with the direction by VC, problems prevailing at the centre and about the new building were discussed. A perfect picture about the shifting can emerge after a report on the meeting is submitted, he said.
He said that the directors have informed that nearly 19 to 20 rooms are necessary to conduct four course and added that the classes will be shifted to the new building with all the facilities as the number of admission seekers has increased.

One professors each for the Commerce, Economics, Kannada and Sociology, one reader, three lecturers post have been sanctioned.  Even though 20 posts are sanctioned only 50 per cent of the post have been filled. Measures will be taken to fill up the remaining posts also, registrar said.

Ranganath said that the centre was facing fund crunch as it was not getting UGC grants and as a result of which it has remained backward. Before shifting the centre steps will be taken to provide necessary facilities.

According to the pact the building construction work should be accomplished by November. But in the students interest the contractors will be persuaded to finish the work by August, said Engineer Puttaswamy.

Grievances
The annual day programme Vasantotsava became a platform for the discussion of the development of the centre and to find solution for the problems faced by the Government Degree College students.

Bangalore University Registrar R M Ranganath inaugurated the programme. He gave a patience hearing to the floods of grievances which poured in by the students. Student leader B Suresh Gowda appraised the Registrar of the problems being faced by the undergraduates and post graduate students  in the district.
Suresh Gowda said that the problems related to result, marks card, internal marks, change of name, practicles have been prevailing for long and alleged the University of  following discriminatory policy towards government colleges as the private colleges were not facing similar problems.

Responding to this complaint, the Registrar summoned the principals of Women Government College and Boys’ Government First Grade College, Rame Gowda and Shankarappa and discussed the issue. Expressing their support to the students both the principals said that the problems have remained unsolved even after repeated demand to solve them. To this the Registrar promised to take measures to solve problems.
The Students Welfare Department Director N Nandini, Finance Officer M Wajeer Ahmed, Chief Engineer Puttaswamy were present. Director of the centre C Nagabhushan presided over the function. Librarian Anjinappa, teaching and non-teaching staff were present on the occasion.
