On June 4 at around 8.45 in the morning, the medical college received a call from an unknown person who claimed that a bomb had been planted in the hospital and the entire premises must be vacated by 11 am. Five such threat calls were made. The patients, doctors and hospital staff panicked.

A team of police personnel, bomb disposal squad and dog squad searched the entire hospital premises for 10 hours and found the call to be a hoax. Later, the same girl student lodged a complaint with Ullal police.

However, investigations revealed that the said student had planted these hoax calls in order to avoid presenting a seminar in the college.

Further probe disclosed the girl had sent a message to a friend in Hyderabad, asking him to make a threat call to the hospital’s landline.

The girl has been arrested and her mobile phone has been seized, Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy said.
