Pilot falls sick: Flight to Dubai delayed

A SpiceJet flight bound for Dubai from Mangaluru International Airport could not take off at 12.45 am on Wednesday after the pilot complained of ill health.

According to SpiceJet spokesperson Anand Deora, SpiceJet Flight SG 59 (Wet lease Boeing aircraft operated by Corendon Airlines) of August 1 from Mangaluru – Dubai had to be rescheduled as the Corendon Airlines pilot reported sick after being diagnosed with malaria. Later, the flight departed at 5 pm.

“The affected passengers were immediately moved to a hotel. SpiceJet apologises for the inconvenience caused to passengers,” said the release.

The operating crew and cabin crew for the flight is provided by Corendon Airlines.

After the sickness of the pilot was reported to Corendon Airlines, they arranged for another pilot at 7 am, who too complained of ill health. Later, Corendon Airlines arranged for a pilot from another location.
