Bengaluru: The government has banned the use of plastic in all state-run temples, Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy said.

He was addressing a news conference after a review meeting of the department here on Monday. The minister said the order would be implemented from August 15.

“We have taken a decision to ban plastic at all Muzrai temples and the same will be implemented from August 15. By then, authorities of the respective temples should take measures to implement the same by educating and creating awareness among devotees,” he added.

Responding to Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy raising objections to ‘Cauvery Aarti’, Reddy said, “Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has more faith in god and he has organised the Aarti.”
