The institute, which began three years ago, did not have its own building and is being run in a old private building situated on old market road. The institution has Electrician, Mechanic, Fitter, MRAC, IT and ESM, MMV and other divisions. Apart from one JTO and one typist and one SDE, who is on deputation from Hassan, there are no other technical staff. The posts of 12 JTO, 1 TO, 1 AO, 1OS, 2FDC, 2SDA, Computer trainer and other posts are vacant.
The government had appointed a Principal (Deputy Director) for the college, but unfortunately, he visits the college only once in a month. The whole institution and the future of the students is at stake due to the principal, allege students.
It is alleged that the Principal is staying in Hubli and has been running a private institution of his own. He visits Sakleshpur only for sake of visiting. Many students have not seen the principal so far.
Around 48 students participated in the counselling held in Hassan for the first year of the ITI for the current academic year. Thirty students have submitted applications for the remaining 60 seats. The last late for submitting the filled in application was August 5.
The students who had received applications have been waiting at the college premises from the past 15 days along with their parents, for admission. But the principal who is supposed to induct students, has not turned up till date. This has put the future of students in at stake. They wait for the principal from morning till evening and return disappointed.
Now, the whole responsibility has fallen on the shoulders of Chandraiah who is specially deputed for this purpose. Computers and other educational equipment supplied by the government are lying idle without opening its packing. More than 300 students of three batches have completed the course here, but they are cursing the institution for denying them practical knowledge on their courses.
There are 80 students pursuing their 2nd year who are taught theory by visiting professors but ironically even if the study equipment are available, they have been denied of the same.
The college, which is pushing the students future into dark, should be given a boost by appointing the technical experts, demand parents.
