Mangaluru: In a crackdown on drug peddling, the city police arrested seven persons on charges of selling ganja to college students, youth, and the public. The arrests were reported from different police station limits in Mangaluru.

Commissioner of Police Sudheer Kumar Reddy C H mentioned that the police team acted on a credible tip off to nab Abdul Samad alias Chammu, who had allegedly been selling ganja in the Khandathpalli area for several days. He was engaged in the act secretly.

The cops seized 40 grams of ganja from him.

Later, they registered a case against him at the Mangaluru North Police Station. He has been remanded in judicial custody.

In another case, based on information, police raided the Kolnadu Lingappayyanakadu area and arrested Dharmalinga, a resident of the area for allegedly selling ganja to students, youth, and daily wage workers.

Police seized around 1.09 kg of ganja from him. A case has been registered at the Mulki Police Station.

Meanwhile, police in Dakshina Kannada's Bajpe received information about two men from Bihar selling ganja in Maravoor. The suspects— Dolat Kumar Sharma and Mohammad Khushalam — were arrested, and the cops seized about 1.189 kg of ganja and 219 grams of bhang from them.

In the Padil area, police arrested Karthik and Mohit, who were allegedly in possession of eight grams of ganja. A case was registered against the duo at the Kankanady Police Station, and the accused were remanded in judicial custody.

Police also arrested Pranav KV, a native of Malappuram in Kerala and a student studying engineering in Mangaluru. Around 1.1 kg of ganja was seized from him. A case was registered at Mangaluru East Police Station, and he was remanded in judicial custody.
