Police deployed to check theft in deserted homes

Police personnel have been deployed at various places in Jodupala area to ensure that there are no cases of theft of valuables reported from the deserted houses.

Speaking to DH, DK SP Ravikanthe Gowda said that in order to ensure that unauthorised persons, posing as rescue teams, do not enter these houses and decamp with valuables, police personnel have been deployed here. The entire area has been cordoned off by the police. The DK police team, including Additional SP, are camping in the region.

A total of 32 police personnel have been deployed to check theft in the vicinity. Further, over 40 persons including NDRF, police, fire service personnel and Home Guards are engaged in rescue operations.

He said the rescue operations using multiple agencies continued at Jodupala on the border of Dakshina Kannada district even on Monday.

The SP said that a search is on for two more bodies of a family who were washed away following landslide and flood at Jodupala on Friday.
