Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said following the murder of Shetty, provocative and inflammatory content was posted on two Instagram profiles — VHP Bhajarang Dal Ashoknagar and Shankhanada.

These posts featured Suhas Shetty's photos with the intent to instigate hatred and animosity among different religious and social groups, encouraging unlawful activities.

A case was registered at Urwa Police Station. The suspect identified as Manish Kumar from Ashoknagar, Mangaluru, has been traced and is being interrogated.

In a separate case registered at Kavoor station, a misleading narrative was being circulated which suggested that the murder took place near Kudupu temple. It claimed to be orchestrated under the leadership of a legislator’s associate, and that rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty was killed to cover it up.

A false claim was spread on a WhatsApp group implying that the murder was politically motivated to benefit the BJP by diverting public attention from a mob lynching.

Hasan Bava from Kinnipadavu, Mangaluru, has been identified and is under interrogation. The investigation is in underway.
