Vittal police arrested two people including a Bajrang Dal activist, in connection with illegal transportation of cattle at Kadambu Junction at Vitlapadnoor, on Friday.

Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Ravikanthe Gowda said, that the arrested were Shashikumar (48), a resident of Vitlapadnoor, and Abdul Harris (21), a resident of Kolnad in Bantwal.

Acting on a tip-off on late Thursday night, Vittal police led by Sub-inspector H E Nagaraj, intercepted the vehicle transporting cattle in an inhuman manner. There were four cows and a calf in the vehicle.

The value of the cattle and vehicle is estimated at Rs 5 lakh. Shashikumar is a Bajrang Dal activist.

Haris is facing charges of cattle theft in Konaje police station jurisdiction. The SP said that the vehicle used for transporting cattle was modified to hide cattle and not raise suspicions.
