The police exploded tear gas shells to control situation after workers from Bihar stoned the office of Sri Cement Factory near Kodla in Sedam taluk on Friday over the death of six workers after a crane collapsed due to heavy winds.

A reserved police official was injured in the incident.

Window panes of the office and glasses a few NEKRTC buses were also damaged in the incident.

As a precautionary measures, the police have deployed 500 men to ensure law and order situation.
The workers have been staging the protest since the incident happened on Thursday evening seeking compensation to family members of the victims

The workers were involved in welding work of a scaffolding on the premises of the factory when the crane collapsed due to gusty winds.
