The Shiralakoppa police have registered a poll code violation case against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy following the complaint by the BJP.

Deputy Commissioner K A Dayananda told DH, “The BJP has lodged a complaint accusing the chief minister of promising voters that new irrigation schemes would be implemented if the JD(S) candidate is elected in the byelection to Shimoga Parliamentary seat during an election campaign in Shiralakoppa town, recently. As per the guidelines of the model code of conduct, people in power are not supposed to make any promise during the election. Besides, it was not included in the manifesto. So, the police have registered a case and would submit a report shortly,” he said.
