Cases of violation of election model code of conduct have been registered against Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara and BJP legislator S A Ramdas.

Bagalkot Deputy Commissioner K G Shantharam said that Parameshwara had promised to develop a road if the Congress candidate was elected in the bypoll while Ramdas had offered Rs 2,000 to ‘Arathi thatte’ during campaigning.

Meanwhile, in Mandya BJP leaders lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Congress leader and Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, alleging that he distributed money to voters during his visit to Mandya, asking them to vote for JD(S)-Congress candidate L R Shivaramegowda in the Lok Sabha byelections

The BJP leaders have complained that Zameer distributed Rs 2,000 denomination currency notes among the voters even as the police who were present there remained mute spectators.

It is a violation of the model code of conduct in place in the wake of the election. Legal action should be taken against Zameer, they demanded.
