The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) reportedly proposed 67 paise per unit for the year 2025-26 in its first Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) application submitted to the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission, as per a report in Bengaluru Now.

When asked about power tariff hike rumours in the state, Karnataka Minister K J George said, "It is a routine process...all the stakeholders will be called and it will be discussed...there was a pension fund when KEB was there...arrears of that fund have come...there is a shortage as well."

"We have to wait and see," the minister added.
