Belagavi: A 25-year-old pregnant woman of a village in Belagavi taluk has tested positive for Covid. Three primary contacts and eight secondary contacts of the woman, who were subjected to Covid test, have returned negative for the virus.
The woman was admitted to a private hospital due to health issues on May 19. After the tests, her samples returned positive for Covid. Following this, she was shifted to a super-speciality hospital.
District Health Officer Dr I P Gadad told DH, “Several Covid cases have been reported from across the state. A woman from the rural area in the taluk has also tested positive for the virus. The family members are not giving proper information about her travel history. The Health Department staff conducted a door-to-door survey in her village. No individuals with Covid symptoms were found.”
He urged the people with co-morbidities and those vulnerable to respiratory diseases to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
As per the government guidelines, a special ward has been set up at all government hospitals to treat Covid patients. We will send the guidelines and SoPs to private hospitals too, Dr Gadad said.
