 Welcoming the State Cabinet decision to provide legislative approval for setting up the University in the next Assembly session, Azim Premji Foundation CEO Dileep Ranjekar said, the University will also focus on catering to the growing demand for professionals in education and education managers.

He pointed out that finer details of the project is yet to be worked out and it would take at least a year or two to establish the University. On the location of the University, he said, the foundation would prefer it to be in Bangalore, but, would demand on land availability.

As per the draft bill to be tabled in the Legislature, the University will not get any financial assistance or grant from the State government.
