It is the duty of all Kannadigas to preserve the rich culture of Karnataka, said Zilla Panchayat member M Krishnamurthy. He was speaking after hoisting the Kannada flag during Kannada Rajyothsava, celebrations organised by Kadamba Yuvaka Samskrithika mattu Kreeda Sangha at Nehru Circle in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday.

Gram Panchayat President Krishnappa said that Kannadigas should use Kannada in day today activities. A language develops with its usage.  Everyone should develop a mentality to love, respect and nurture Kannada.

Gram Panchayat Vice President Savitha Krishnaswamy said that Kannada language which has a rich legacy of more than two thousand years has been getting a blow with the increasing obsession of parents towards English medium schools.

Gram Panchayat member Mohandas said that the cultural organisations have a great role to play for popularising Kannada culture.

Retired teacher H Puttaswamy, Kadamba Samskrithika mattu Kreeda Sangha President Navin and others took part. The portrait of Bhuvaneshwari Devi was taken out in a procession. Dollu Kunita, Veeragase, Drum set, Chitte Mela and other teams added colours to the procession.
