Speaking to reporters in Bangalore on Tuesday, Energy Minister K S Eshwarappa said the one-man commission will submit its report within six months.

Chief Minister Yeddyurappa had announced that the probe would be taken up soon after the legislature session in September. The move comes following allegation and counter-allegation on coal purchases between the Government and the JD(S).

The panel will inquire into allegations that former CM H D Kumaraswamy as KPCL chairman and H D Revanna as Energy Minister had caused losses to the tune of Rs 1,800 crore to the exchequer by “fraudulent deals.” The Kumaraswamy government allegedly had not called fresh tenders for coal washing resulting in a total loss of Rs 1,500 crore to the exchequer.
Further, the panel will also probe into allegation that Revanna as KPTCL chairman, had sanctioned purchase of 505 power transformers worth Rs 844 crore.

Besides, transformers more than the requirement, had been purchased resulting in a total loss of Rs 200 crore.
