Belagavi: The state government has proposed recruitment to 1,600 vacant posts of police sub-inspectors (PSI), Home Minister G Parameshwara said in the Assembly on Tuesday.

"The proposal has been sent to the finance department,” he said. Parameshwara said recruitment was stalled due to irregularities in the process of hiring 545 PSIs.

"At present, we’ve filled up 947 PSI posts and the selected candidates are undergoing training,” he added.
