Madikeri: “Protecting our property is our right, and our mother is doing just that. It is not causing any trouble to the public,” said Member of Parliament and royal family scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar.
Responding to reporters on Sunday regarding reports that farmers from Siddayyanapura in Chamarajanagar have threatened to commit suicide in front of the palace, he said, “Such a situation will never arise.”
“There is nothing political about this issue,” he clarified. “During the drafting of the Constitution, not just our royal family but the properties of 560 princely states were listed. According to that list, it is our right to protect our property,” he emphasised.
He stated that the fault lies with the government, which should have conducted a proper land survey regarding revenue land. Since this issue is related to the palace, anyone facing difficulties should come to the palace and talk directly, he suggested.
Speaking on the caste census report, he remarked, “That report was compiled 10 years ago. Applying it based on today’s population is not appropriate. A new, scientifically-prepared report is necessary,. he added.
