Mangaluru: As a large number of people are likely to take part in the protest meeting against the Waqf Amendment Act at Shah Garden Maidan in Adyar- Kannur on Mangaluru- Bengaluru highway on April 18, there is a possibility of traffic congestion on NH 73 between Padil and B C Road.

The police have advised motorists to use alternative roads, especially heavy and medium goods transport, trucks, tankers (Excluding local, emergency and essential vehicles), etc, avoiding the said road from 12 noon to 9 pm on April 18.

Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said all types of goods vehicles and buses coming to and from Mangalore city avoid Pumpwell / Nanthoor - Padil - Kannur - Adyar - Sahyadri - Arkula - Farangipete - Thumbay - BC Road.

Drivers/riders of all types of light vehicles and two-wheelers coming to and from Mangaluru city on Padil - Kannur - Adyar Katte road are advised to use alternative routes. The Commissioner has urged people to avoid parking on either side of the road on Pumpwell / Nanthoor - Padil - Kannur - Adyar - Sahyadri - Arkula - Parangipete - Thumbay - B.C. Road (National Highway - 73).

The public is advised to use Melkar Junction - vehicles coming from Puttur/Bantwal/Beltagadi towards Mangaluru cityKasargod can go via Melkar Junction - Boliyar - Mudipu - Deralakatte - Thokkottu.

Vehicles coming from the BC Road towards Mangaluru/Udupi can go via Polali Dwara, Panchayat Junction - Neermarga - Baiturli - Kulashekara – Nanthoor Junction. Light motor vehicles to Mangaluru can also pass through Valachil and proceed via Merlapadavu - Neermarga - Baithurli – Nanthoor Junction, or Adyar Katte and proceed via Harekala Bridge - Konaje - Deralakatte - Thokkottu.

Vehicles from Mangaluru city towards BC Road can go via Thokkottu - Deralakatte - Mudipu - Boliyar - Melkar. Vehicles towards B.C. Road from Surathkal side can go via Bikarnakatte - Kulshekar - Baiturli Junction - Neermarga – Kalpane Junction - BC Road, Kaikamba Polali Dwar. Vehicles travelling from Mangaluru city/Surathkal towards BC Road can go via Padavinanagadi - Pacchanadi - Vamanjoor - Baithurli Junction - Neermarga - Kalpane or Bondel - Kavoor - Bajpe - Kaikamba - Moodbidri.

Vehicles travelling from Udupi towards BC Road can go via Karkala - Moodbidri - Siddakatte - Bantwal, said the Commissioner.
