Mangaluru: PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi said that there is a proposal for the construction of G+3 commercial complex building at Nellikatte PWD land, which is first of its kind in the state at an estimated cost of Rs 17.60 crore.
“The commercial complex will be built on a PPP mode. The PWD is exploring similar initiatives under asset monetisation in various locations in the state. The design on the proposed project at Nellikatte is yet to be finalised. The proposals on asset monetisation on the assets owned by the department will take shape in the next six months,” he told mediapersons after reviewing the progress of works taken up by the PWD in Dakshina Kannada district, at the DC’s office in Mangaluru.
The proposed project site area in Nellikatte in Puttur is 1983 square metre and the projected revenue is Rs 1.40crore per year.
Inspection bunglow upgradation
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M P said that there is a need for the maintenance of the rooms at Circuit House along with the maintenance of the work.
MLA Vedavyas Kamath said that the work on the three-storey VVIP guest house is in progress. While inaugurating the VVIP guest house, there is a need to lay the foundation for another guest house in the Circuit House premises. To which, the Minister responded positively and asked the officials to submit a proposal for a new building.
Helipad construction
Jarkiholi said that the PWD has written to all the Deputy Commissioners in the state to identify land in their district for the construction of helipads. Whenever VIPs visit the district, temporary helipads are laid. Instead, the PWD has decided to construct helipads in the land identified by the district administration.
PWD officials said that Rs 1 crore has been sought for the development of a helipad and approach road at Maryhill. In addition, Rs 50 lakh is sought for the upgradation of helipad with approach road, toilet block and permanent metal barricading at helipad at Mottethadka in Puttur. Land is being identified for a helipad at Sullia.
Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja said that inspite of sanctioning Rs 3.50 crore, the work on Junior College has been stalled due to technical issues. As many as 1500 students are pursuing their studies in the college. The Minister in turn directed the officials to clear the issue and accelerate the work at the earliest. Similarly, on the issues pertaining to the Inspection Bunglow at Belthangady, the Minister promised to look into it.
