Udupi: In a shocking incident, a wife allegedly killed her husband with a machete over a quarrel that broke out between them in Naalkuru in Udupi's Hebri on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as one Ganapati sustained severe injuries in the neck region and other places and died on the spot, police sources said.

The wife, Jayanti, told police that Ganapati was addicted to alcohol and used to frequently pick up fights with her. On Wednesday a similar argument broke out between the couple. In a fit of rage, Jayanti allegedly attacked Ganapati with a machete near the backyard of their house, slashing his neck.

The police have stated that the altercation began when Ganapati asked his wife for money to buy alcohol.

The incident escalated, leading Jayanti to attack him with the weapon. A case has been registered at the Hebri Police Station.
