Bengaluru: Rajya Sabha BJP member Lahar Singh Siroya dubbed Congress leader B K Hariprasad's comments on the Supreme Court following its remarks against Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as "unfortunate and dangerous".

He said loyalty to Congress dynasty was understandable, “but loyalty to country must come first.”

In a statement, Siroya referred to Hariprasad’s post on X, where the Congress MLC accused the Supreme Court of supporting "dictatorial attitudes" and undermining Gandhi, whom he called a "shadow prime minister".

Hariprasad also alleged that the apex court and some high courts were making politically inspired observations.

Siroya said it was shocking to see such strong remarks from a senior politician. "I always thought Hariprasad was mature. I did not expect him to question judiciary’s integrity,” he said.

"Rahul is not above law. His actions must reflect maturity and decorum expected of a constitutional figure," he said.

Siroya said, "It’s been 50 years since the Emergency, but the mindset remains.”
