BJP on Saturday demanded that the Congress president Rahul Gandhi speak out on the recent incidents of "goondagiri" by his party leaders and supporters, including the assault on a youth by Mohammed Haris Nalapad in Bengaluru.

The Congress workers are mainly targeting BJP activists. The BJP workers were attacked in Yeshwantpur, Dasarahalli, Byatarayanapura and K R Puram constituencies in Bengaluru in the past 10 days. But, the government is not acting against the culprits, BJP leader and MP Shobha Karandlaje told reporters here. Shantinagar MLA N A Haris brought pressure on the police not to arrest his son, Mohammed Nalapad. The police kept quiet for 38 hours after the assault as Nalapad was under the influence of drugs. The Congress should answer about his connections with drug mafia, she said, demanding that Haris immediately resign.

The Congress leaders have unleashed violence and are indulging in goondagiri as they are confident of getting protection from the government. Rahul should speak about these burning issues and advise Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy to act in the interest of the state, Shobha added.
