New Delhi: Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel H D Kumaraswamy on Tuesday said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has assured him to establish a Railway Protection Force (RPF) training center at K R Nagar in Mysuru.

Kumaraswamy who met Vaishnaw here requested him to set up a RPF training centre at K R Nagar.

Kumaraswamy also brought to the notice of Vaishnaw that the old railway station in K R Nagar had been relocated during Deve Gowda’s tenure as Prime Minister. The site of the old station remains vacant, and there are no land acquisition issues, making it ideal for the training center, a statement said.

The minister agreed for Kumaraswamy’s request to construct a railway flyover at level crossing 44/100-200 between Ramanagara and Channapatna.

Responding to a request to upgrade Sakleshpur railway station on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru route, Vaishnaw assured the speedy completion of the project and the establishment of a modern railway station.

Kumaraswamy also requested the Minister to stoppages of key trains on all major stations on Channapatna-Bengaluru-Mysuru section for key trains.

The Railway Minister assured complete support for steel and scrap transport across the country, the statement said.

JD (S) senior leaders Bandeppa Kashempur and S Ra Mahesh were present during the discussions.
